I’ve been a huge Spacemen 3/Spiritualized fan since 1991 when I had the good fortune of seeing Spiritualized on their first american tour supporting the Jesus and Mary Chain. I’d known of them before that, I remember I knew enough to know “Walking With Jesus,” when he played it, was a Spacemen 3 song, but seeing Spiritualized live was what really kicked the obsession into high gear for me. Since then I’ve probably seen them like 20 times, but I’d been running out of steam the last couple of years – Amazing Grace didn’t really do it for me as an album, and the live shows had lost their, well, pardon the pun, grace.

Still, though, the Spacemen 3/Spiritualized (and Sonic, I do love sonic) axis looms pretty large in my rock pantheon. And today, as I was shopping for a replacement Spacemen 3 t-shirt (they’re so hard to find!), I came across some very interesting news:

This october, Jason will be playing the music of “Spiritualized, Spacemen 3 and others” acoustic, accompanied by strings and gospel singers.

I missed the Teenage Fanclub show (Rock Tourist UK contributor Aug Stone should have a full report next week, since I gave him my tickets), so maybe this is the excuse I need to go to London, although Sadotter and I are definitely going to ATP in December. (You should check the lineup on that, by the way? Dead C? Nurse with Wound? Um. Wow).

BUT, I do think I need to go to this. I owe it to Jason, and it appears he realized his live show was in need of shaking up. Now, the question. Is Aug gonna be in London still then, or should I mix it up and hit Edinburgh?
